Donor-advised funds have become a popular and convenient way for individuals and families to manage their charitable giving. If you have established a donor-advised fund, you may recommend grants from that fund to support the Capuchin friars.
Many donors appreciate the ability to give thoughtfully and intentionally, while remaining attentive to their broader financial and charitable plans.
What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account established through a sponsoring organization, such as a community foundation or financial institution. Contributions to a donor-advised fund are typically tax-deductible at the time they are made, and grants may be recommended to qualified charities over time.
Once assets are placed in a donor-advised fund, they are no longer considered the donor’s personal assets, but the donor may continue to recommend how and when grants are distributed.
Why Use a Donor-Advised Fund to Support the Capuchins?
Many donors find donor-advised funds appealing because they are:
-
Flexible – Grants may be recommended at any time and in varying amounts
-
Thoughtful – Allow for intentional, prayerful planning of charitable gifts
-
Efficient – Simplify recordkeeping and charitable administration
-
Enduring – Support the Capuchin friars over time
Some donors use their donor-advised fund to support the Capuchins annually. Others recommend grants periodically or as part of a longer-term charitable plan. Both approaches are welcome and appreciated.
How to Recommend a Grant
To recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund:
-
Log in to your donor-advised fund account or contact your fund administrator.
-
Recommend a grant to the Capuchin friars using the fund’s standard process.
-
If possible, include your name and any special intentions so we may properly acknowledge your gift.
Because procedures vary by sponsoring organization, we are always happy to assist if questions arise.
